WCAG Contrast Checker does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.

All color analysis is performed locally in your browser. No information about the websites you visit or the contrast issues found is ever sent to external servers.

How the Extension Works

When you click the extension icon, it scans the current webpage to detect text elements and their colors. This analysis happens entirely within your browser.

Permissions Explained

The extension requires the following permissions to function:

activeTab

Required to scan the currently active tab for text elements and their colors when you click the extension icon.

scripting

Required to inject the content script that analyzes DOM elements, extracts computed colors, and highlights elements on the page.

sidePanel

Used to display scan results, contrast ratios, and fix suggestions in a convenient side panel interface.

Third-Party Services

This extension does not use any third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising services. There are no external API calls or data transfers.
